Mobile training sessions

They are for people with an experience of coastal sailing who are aiming to reach a destination in the meantime.

They are an introduction to planning sailing voyages, taking into account weather forecasts and possible landings on the journey.

You will particularly become familiar with navigational charts ; either paper or/and electronic and understand what navigational strategy means.

Pedagogical contents

• Deepening coastal mobile navigation knowledge,
• Tackling watches and manoeuvres with a reduced crew
• Getting used to reading charts and learning how to plot and follow a route on instruments.
• Knowing maritime law
• Mastering emergency manœuvres.
• Discovering night sailing and basic knowledge of stars.

Horizons

These deep sea navigation / deep sea trainings, far from the coasts, are meant for people with an experience of electronic navigation and interested in discovering open-sea navigation.

These sessions are organized with watches (reduced crew) and a specific destination in mind.

To reach it, we’ll have to go off into the wild blue yonder, as well as experiencing night navigation. The crew will have to  familiarize themselves with the various navigatiional instruments, the international rules of the road and maritime law and the functioning of the sea ‘traffic’.

It also will be an opportunity to take more responsibilities on board and start making decisions. Crossing will also mean discovering the unique emotion of seeing land disappear(gulp), then reappear (hooray!) on the horizon.

Pedagogical contents

• Working out a route
• Sailing by dead reckoning
• Deepening the reading and the understanding of the weather forecast
• Learning to organize and respect the watches and organising night watches
• Interpreting sea-traffic , anticipating collision routes, knowing maritime laws
• Handling and feeling at ease with electronic implements that help with navigation

Budding skipper

For people already proficient in navigation, but who still hesitate at the moment the open-sea beckons as skipper on board.

These training sessions aim at giving you the keys to feeling autonomous on a boat and in taking on the responsibility of a crew.

Everyday a different trainee will play the role of Chief, being responsible for the navigation, the security of the boat and the crew, as well as the organization and the manoeuvres.

This experience will be supervised and analysed during everyday meetings.

The main purpose being the mastership of the security manœuvres, moorings in all types of conditions,making decisions, knowing the boat and all the parameters leading to quick action and adapting to unforeseen events such as weather changes or equipment failure.

Pedagogical contents

• Knowing how to make a complete tecnical check of a boat and repair possible damage and malfunctions
• Mastering the use of saftey equipment and brief the crew
• Mastering the safety manœuvres – MAN OVER BOARD !
• Anticipating the manœuvres of approach
• Perfecly mastering navigation and finding solutions for possible fallbacks. Giving yourself options….

Women at the helm

In collaboration with She Explores.

These trips are a shared feminine experimentation. For women drawn to the sea either through curiosity, passion or vocation, we suggest a training session for women only, so as to manœuvre a boat without fear, understand navigation and get to know sail handing and learn how to make good decisions.

The maritime world being almost exclusively male, these stays allow the team members to emancipate and perhaps take up a sea-woman career.

Whatever your level, your experience, you are welcome on board to discover or deepen your mastership of coastal navigation in a very friendly atmosphere.

• Knowing how to adjust the sails according to all trims
• Practising all the sailing manœuvres emergency manœuvres included)
• Learning how to interprete charts and work out navigation
• Choosing a place of safety for the boat and controlling approach and mooring

WE Découverte

Ces stages sont une première approche de la navigation côtière. Ils permettent de goûter sur un temps très court au plaisir d’être sur l’eau, de naviguer à la voile.
Un WE pour s’évader, dormir dans une baie sauvage et silencieuse, bercé par le mouvement de l’eau sous la coque.
Une expérience à bord où nous appréhenderons la richesse de se déplacer à la force du vent, les premières manœuvres et les gestes de marins (les nœuds, le vocabulaire..)
Un WE pour vous faire ses premiers pas et avoir envie d’y retourner.

Contenu pédagogique

• Appréhender le vent
• Apprendre à barrer
• Savoir régler les voiles à toutes les allures
• Tenir un cap et connaître les manœuvres de bases
• Apprendre à lire les cartes marines et préparer la navigation
• Choisir un refuge sûr pour le bateau et gérer l’approche et l’amarrage
